Charlottetown Distributes Studio and Gallery Map

Part of 2011 Cultural Capital of Canada Designation

As part of its 2011 Cultural Capital of Canada Designation, a program of the Department of Canadian Heritage, the City of Charlottetown unveils a CharlottetownStudio and Gallery Map.

The visually appealing brochure is a free, bilingual, self-guided map of the artist/artisan studios and art galleries located in historic downtown Charlottetown and other city locations.  The map contains general information, including location and hours of operation, and features a locator map. Also included is information on special programming and events planned by artists and artisans such as open studio times with opportunities to observe artists at work, workshops with hands-on learning and special exhibits and information on heritage and architectural landmarks in the community.

“Having the arts community catalogued in this format will assist our residents and visitors in discovering the City’s talented array of artists, creators and designers at work,” said Mayor of Charlottetown Clifford Lee. “We wish everyone fantastic discoveries of Charlottetown’s outstanding artistry and craftsmanship”.

The Charlottetown Studio and Gallery Map is available at City Hall’sTourism Information Centre, located at 199 Queen Street; at the Charlottetown Waterfront Visitor Information Centre, located at Founders Hall; at the various art studios and galleries that are outlined on the map; at various hotels and outlets in the City’s downtown, and through the Cruise Ship Ambassador program.
